 Donald Poland, M.D.

Dr. Poland is a native of Kingston, Tennessee and graduated from medical school from the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 1982. He performed his ophthalmology residency at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. After completion of his residency, Dr. Poland was awarded a prestigious fellowship in corneal disorders and refractive surgery at the Louisiana State University Eye Center, New Orleans recognized as a world leader in patient care, medical education, and in research to preserve and restore vision. 

​Dr. Poland specializes in LASIK, premium implant cataract surgery, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Poland and his staff have performed over 10,000 refractive surgical procedures since opening his private practice in 1988. Dr. Poland is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member of many local, state and national medical societies, including the Gwinnett County Medical Society, the Medical Association of Georgia and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Kris Gillian, M.D.

Kris F. Gillian, M.D. is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. He earned his BA from Emory University and was awarded an academic scholarship while graduating from the University of Arkansas with a degree in medicine.  Dr. Gillian completed his medical  internship at the University of Tennessee and his ophthalmology residency in Pittsburgh.  During his residency,  Dr. Gillian traveled to Samara, Russia to perform a surgical mission at the hospital of the late Dr. Svyatoslav Fyodorov, known as the "Father of Radial Keratotomy."

Dr. Gillian is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing in the Atlanta area since 2001.  He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.  
Dr. Gillian had performed thousands various surgical procedures in his career.  He specializes in premium implant laser cataract surgery, LASIK, diabetes and glaucoma treatment, macular degeneration management, eyelid surgery, and pterygium removal. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and children and enjoys travel, scuba, golf, music, and personal fitness in his spare time.

Dickie McMullan, M.D.

Dickie McMullan, MD offers 30 years of experience helping her patients improve their vision, at the same time decreasing their dependency on glasses and contact lenses.  Combining procedures of LASIK, PRK, premium implant cataract surgery and lens implants for extreme near-sightedness (ICLs), she offers experience with the latest FDA approved options for maximizing vision and therefore quality of life.

Following graduation in the first class of women at the University of Virginia, Dr. McMullan received her MD from the Medical College of Virginia. After her residency at Emory University, one of the top-five ophthalmology programs in the country, she completed two post-doctorate fellowships:  a cornea fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, and a Lens Implant/Laser Fellowship in Atlanta.
Dr. McMullan is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  She serves on the board of the Medical Association of  Atlanta, and is past president of the Atlanta Ophthalmology Society.

Dr. McMullan has served as a surgeon for national LASIK centers as well as local referral centers. Her experience includes tens of thousands of refractive procedures including no-stitch cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK, ALK, corneal transplants, and implantation of premium lenses. Dr. McMullan is a certified clinician for Botox and Juvaderm.

Dr. McMullan has balanced her clinical career serving as an international lecturer and residency instructor.  She has participated in medical mission trips to Belize, Peru, Guatemala, Tanzania and Bhutan and has worked at The Good Samaritan Center in Atlanta. She currently serves on the managing board of the University of Virginia Alumni Association. Dr. McMullan enjoys traveling, especially sailing, and photography.

Frank Winski, O.D.

Dr. Frank Winski joined Georgia Eye Associates in 1998. He has extensive experience meeting the needs of families. His practice includes evaluating school aged children who may need glasses all the way up to the needs of an older adult that is developing cataracts or macular degeneration. He enjoys fitting people of all ages for contact lenses and has developed   particular expertise in hard-to-fit conditions such as keratoconus, corneal transplants, and presbyopia.

​For those patients hoping to go without glasses or contacts, Dr. Winski can determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK or other refractive procedures.
After obtaining his doctorate of optometry at the New England College of Optometry he finished an ocular disease residency at Omni Eye Services of Atlanta. Optometric residencies are 13-month post graduate training programs that are completed by less than 10% of practicing optometrists.  This residency gave him the training necessary to manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, diseases of the cornea, and post-operative care of surgical patients.

Dr. Winski is originally from Rochester, NY, but has called Atlanta home since 1989. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association. He is a past president of the Greater Atlanta Optometric Association and has served as a trustee on the board of the Georgia Optometric Association. He enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors with his three sons and wife Julie.

Brian Kahn, O.D.

Dr. Brian A. Kahn, a native of Atlanta, has been in practice in Atlanta for the past 24 years. He is a fourth generation optometrist who specializes in several areas. They include pre/post LASIK, keratoconus, dry eye disease, glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive eye disease as well as contact lenses.

Dr. Kahn is a graduate of Pace Academy in Atlanta and earned his BA from the University of Texas, Austin. He completed his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and interned at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta.

Dr. Kahn has performed over 75,000 refractive and contact lens examinations since joining Kahn Eye Group in 1987.
Dr. Kahn has received numerous awards and recognition for his leadership and expertise in Optometry. Those include being named Young Optometrist of the Year as well as Georgia Optometrist of the Year.
 
He is a member and administrator for Vision Source, the largest national network of private optometric practices in the country. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, Greater Atlanta Optometric Association, and the AOA Contact Lens Section. Dr. Kahn is considered by many to be an expert in the field of keratoconus and irregular contact lens management.

Brigette Rabitsch (Bailey), O.D.

Dr. Rabitsch provides care in the areas of ocular disease, contact lenses, and family practice optometry. In June 2011, she was among the first 500 doctors in the country to complete the rigorous process of Board Certification by the American Board of Optometry. As a Diplomate of the ABO, Dr. Rabitsch is committed to  excellence and lifelong learning in the field of optometry. In 2006, she received the distinction of Young Optometrist of the Year by her colleagues in the over six-hundred member Georgia Optometric Association. From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Rabitsch served as the 9th district president of the Georgia Optometric Association.

Currently, Dr. Rabitsch mentors as part of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry's Doctor-Student Mentor Program. While at UAB, she was an active member of the Beta Sigma Kappa academic honor society and the Fellowship of Christian optometrists. 
As an optometry student, she served as part of a medical missions team to Belize. Most recently Dr. Rabitsch participated in a  medical missions trip to Haiti, along with a team of students and colleagues from UAB. Locally, she serves at the Lions' Lighthouse Clinic and the Good Samaritan Clinic to provide eye care for those in need.

Dr. Rabitsch graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from the University of Georgia Honors Program, majoring in microbiology and participating in an undergraduate experimental research program. She completed her doctorate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.  

Dr. Rabitsch resides in the Atlanta area with her husband and two children. They enjoy traveling, photography, and serving with the hospitality team at their church.

Melanie Peeler, O.D.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Dr. Melanie Peeler completed her undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in biology and a minor in psychology. She received one of two scholarships awarded each year to South Carolina residents to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree.

​Dr. Peeler participated in four international missions with Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH), providing eye care to undeserved areas in Honduras and Colombia. An officer in many organizations, she was also a member of Gold Key and Beta Sigma Kappa, honor societies for leadership and academic achievement.
After graduation, Dr. Peeler completed a primary eye care residency at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina, focusing on geriatrics, ocular disease, specialty contact lens fits, and low vision. She authored and co-authored several papers, posters, and presentations during her residency.

Dr. Peeler is a member of the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, and Greater Atlanta Optometric Association. In her spare time, she enjoys cycling and weight training, live music, trying new restaurants, and traveling.

Jiong Yan, M.D.

Emory Eye Center has chosen to partner with Georgia Eye Associates to provide retina-related eye care to  patients and residents of Gwinnett County. Ophthalmologist and Emory Retina Specialist, Dr. Jiong Yan, comes to Georgia Eye Associates as a vitreo-retinal consultant. Patients with diabetes, glaucoma and other eye conditions can now see their ophthalmologist and retina specialist at one convenient location at our Lawrenceville office.

Dr. Yan is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory Eye enter. Her clinical and research interests include diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, retinal detachment and age-related macular egeneration. 
Dr. Yan directs the inherited retinal disease unit at Emory Eye Center.Dr. Yan is board certified in ophthalmology and a fellow with the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
